T-fal Actifry

Updated on June 1, 2013

The tefal actifry - better for your health

Two year ago, while out shopping just before Christmas, we discovered the t-fal actifry. We were attracted to a video demonstration of the actifry. It showed how we could cook French Fries ("chips" for we Aussies) which would turn out beautiful and crispy (unlike the ones I have tried to cook in my oven) with just one tablespoon of oil. Sure, you get crispy French fries in a traditional deep fryer, but we stopped using ours after learning of the health risks.

So we ended up buying a tefal actifry, and two years down the track, it is still going strong.

Note: in the USA, it is called the T-fal Actifry; in the UK and Australia, it is called the Tefal Actifry.

Tefal Actifry Recipes

Not Only for French Fries

As much as we love our french fries cooked in the actifry, we also use it for "deep-frying" other food. We also enjoy chicken nuggets and dimsims cooked this way. I must confess that when we're in a hurry, we sometimes give the frozen food (and the cut potatoes too) a couple of minutes in the microwave oven to slightly heat them up before putting them into the actifry. This cuts down on the amount of time needed to cook them.

This chopper makes preparing your potatoes a breeze. If your potatoes are too big, just cut them in half or quarters. I have found that sweet potato seems to be a bit tougher, so I generally chop it into smaller pieces before putting it through the cutter. We have managed to break the top metal strip in ours by being a little too heavy-handed. So don't try to force the lever down if there is too much resistance. Just chop your food into smaller sections. Buy similar from Amazon in UK
