One of the first things I look for in a digital camera is a good optical zoom. I often want to photograph a bird but I would frighten it away if I got in too close. This camera has a great 14x optical zoom which means you can zoom in really close to those distant subjects. The trouble with zooming in so far is that any little wobbles you make are greatly applified.
