Apple Peeler Corer Slicer
Victorio VKP1010 Apple and Potato Peeler
A kitchen gadget to save you lots of time
Do you love apples? One of my favorite fruits is the apple. And it's so good for you too! We all know that we need to eat more fruit and veggies. But sometimes it can be really difficult to get our kids to eat their quota. Let me tell you that when my children were younger, this apple peeler corer slicer was a great incentive for them to eat fruit - apples at least! The little springy apple that is produced looks like a slinky and is just so much fun to eat. And it's even fun for them to "make". Just pull the fork back, push the apple onto the prongs then turn the handle. And presto! One peeled, cored, and sliced apple.
If you'd rather leave the skin on the apple and just core and slice it, you can do that by just using the little lever to put the peeler arm back.
I love apples in many different recipes, but peeling all those apples, coring them and then slicing them can be really time consuming. I've got to admit than I'm a lazy cook. Anything that makes my life easier in the kitchen has got to be good, right? You may even have the kids volunteering to do all the peeling, slicing, and coring for you! This kitchen gadget is so easy to use - great for making apple pies, apple sauce, apple crumble, apple cakes.... Simply put your fruit spiral on a chopping board with the core hole running vertically (up and down) and use a knife to chop down, cutting the sized pieces you want.
If you have a food dehydrator, this kitchen gadget is a great accessory. After the peeler-corer-slicer has made your apple spring, simply make one cut down and you'll have your apple slices all cut. After they're cut, I like to dunk them in lemon juice before putting them on the dehydrator trays. This prevents the apple from discoloring and also gives them a yummy tanginess.
The body of the Victorio VKP1010 apple and potato peeler is made from enamel-coated cast iron, making it good and solid. The suction base will hold the unit firmly on your counter top so that it won't move around as you do your peeling.
Oh. And did I mention that you can use it on your potatoes too?

I love my peeler-corer-slicer for preparing apples in bulk, but if you're only preparing one or two just to eat, you may prefer one of these little tools.
